Sublime Toxics with Christopher Wright

Date: September 22, 2023
Time: 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Location: Online (via Zoom)

Join us for a fascinating discussion about the role of the arts in enabling us to see humanity’s impacts on the living world, with “The Toxic Sublime: A Photographic Exploration of Degraded Landscapes”.

In his presentation, Chris will outline a current photographic project entitled “Toxic Sublime” which explores the paradoxical beauty and mystery that is aroused in humanity’s destruction of the natural world. Using aerial images of coal waste sites, the project reveals the deceptively beautiful but destructive vistas of the Anthropocene which serve as stark reminders of the impact of industrial civilization on the planet.
